CONCEPT SCHEME  

ASHBOURNE

PROJECT: This is a concept scheme for an awkward site in Ashbourne. The site is very narrow, prone to flooding and has overlooking issues. The design features recessed courtyards which allows the bedroom windows to face each other. This feature also adds extra outside space to make maximum use of the site. External sliding panels can be closed in winter to for a more cosy atmosphere and opened up in the summer to allow in the light. Construction on concrete piles with SUDS drainage will address the flooding issues. The site is in a village location with farm land close by. The semi agricultural design with timber cladding and barn style shutters echos the surroundings.
